Since a cent = 1/100 = 0.01 dollars, we set 0.01 as the multiple, which gives 4.27 rounded to nearest cent, 4.27 rounded up to a cent and 4.26 rounded down to a cent.
Likewise, you can round to multiple of any number e.g 50 cents, 1 dollar, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 50, 100, 500, 5000, 50000 and so on.
